Duo new structure and new wearing experience
If the original "four-dimensional single spiral staircase" symbolizes the "breathing space" for urbanites in their busy lives; then the new Duo explores a deeper issue in life - "balance".
Modern life is always swinging between two ends, external and internal, career and family, rationality and sensibility, pulling against each other. What Duo longs to gaze at is the moment where one can settle between the two extremes. The true balance should not sacrifice one party for the other. There is no need to choose, but to have both.
Spiral Staircase Duo, a new balance running in both directions
We built two spiral staircases that echo each other on the originally calm clear water mold dial. This is not just a structural addition, but a philosophical "duo".
These two stairs symbolize the forces in life that seem to be opposite but are actually symbiotic. They swirl gracefully on the dial. Although they do not intersect, they coexist perfectly in the same time and space. No one overwhelms anyone, and no one replaces anyone. Instead, it creates a geometrically ultimate stability and coordination.
The unique volume and simplicity of the clear water mold material brings a calm atmosphere to this watch. Watching the hands move between the two stairs, you will find that true tranquility does not come from escaping from busyness, but from inner order. What Duo wants to say is that no matter how extreme the external world is, as long as you maintain this two-way balance in your heart, you can build a stable and solid self in the torrent of time.
The most substantial facelift in history brings cement watches into a new era
In order to make the mechanical watch more integrated into daily life, we redesigned the Four Dimensional Space mechanical watch from the inside out. The case diameter was reduced from 45 to 43mm, and the case thickness was reduced from 14.5 to 12.5 (the overall thickness after adding glass was reduced from 14.7mm to 14.5mm). While maintaining the sense of space of the Four Dimensional Space series, the wearing comfort is greatly improved.
When you stare at the new four-dimensional mechanical watch, it is like a building of Brutalism architectural art, standing on the wrist. Different materials such as cement, stainless steel, bronze, leather, etc. are naked and truly presented in front of you.
The refraction and reflection brought by the newly added double-convex box-shaped Sapphire Crystal make the light and shadow richer, presenting another layer of harmonious and rounded retro style. This time we launch three colors, suitable for three different types of urban walkers.
Add sustainable materials and exclusive handmade clear water mold dial
The water molding method is the ultimate expression of cement technology. In order to present a delicate and original charming texture, it absolutely relies on meticulous molds and precise construction. All water mold dials of 22STUDIO are hand-made at the Dihua Street headquarters in Taipei. They use an exclusive formula of cement and add sustainable recycled aggregates, which can quickly solidify and shape, with low shrinkage and high strength.
The dual dial design raises the requirement for accuracy even higher. The allowable tolerance value of 0.15mm and the formula of multiple colors may cause the cement to have different shrinkage rates and strengths. At the same time, the two pieces need to be accurately bonded, and then embedded with magnifying lenses and luminous hour markers, which is another difficult challenge for the team. After years of practical experience, "new products are self-challenges" has been deeply rooted in the genes of 22STUDIO's Qingshui Model Workshop. There is nothing to say that we will fight again and again.
Thin and light modified Japanese Miyota 9015 high-end automatic mechanical movement
In order to pursue a thinner overall design, we used Japan’s high-end Star 9015 movement, which is 0.7mm thinner than the movement we used in the past (4.6mm reduced to 3.9mm). This movement has a very good market evaluation, stable and accurate travel time, and a power reserve of about 42 hours. This time we also customized a 22STUDIO exclusive automatic disc to further enhance the overall movement quality.
Box-shaped Sapphire Crystal
The watch mirrors of all 22STUDIO series of watches are made of sapphire glass, which is second only to diamond in hardness and will hardly scratch, ensuring long-lasting use. This time, the double-convex pot lid shape is specially chosen. The internal space it creates can further thin the watch case. At the same time, the refraction and reflection caused by its shape make the entire watch change a lot from different angles, which greatly changes the atmosphere of the entire watch, making us unable to put it down.
Super luminous hands and three-dimensional hour markers
The luminous paint of all 22STUDIO products is produced by the Swiss manufacturer LumiNova AG Switzerland. Super-LumiNova® has excellent chemical stability and high-brightness luminous light, making it possible to quickly and clearly read the time in any dark environment.
Three-dimensional hour markers made of metal CNC and filled with super luminous. The tiny hour markers are only 3.9x1x0.8mm in size and must be accurately set on the clear water mold dial, which extremely tests precision and alignment technology.
Crown shoulder guard design
The shoulder-guard crown design uses CNC to create a groove around the original crown and lock the faucet guard to create a protective barrier. The crown can reduce violent collisions on the front line, extend the service life of the watch, and can be worn with peace of mind when engaging in larger movements. The craftsmanship details also make the overall shape more sporty and mechanically aesthetic.
Well-shaped date window with magnifying glass
Another original design of 22STUDIO. We used the extra internal space on the surface of the spiral staircase to design a well-shaped date window on the clear water mold dial. Then we transferred the date magnifying glass, which is usually glued to the surface glass, to the upper edge of the well to clearly display the date, creating a rich interest.
Hanging lock bezel design
Our self-developed pendant lock design uses four screws to lock the upper frame upward from the strap groove. The innovative structure eliminates the previous repair cutout at 12 o'clock, improves the waterproof performance, and makes it easier to disassemble and repair in the future.
Leather strap curve holder
The leather strap of the watch will be equipped with a special "strap curvature fixator", which can fix the strap and the watch itself into a perfect oval shape, greatly improving the wearing experience and making it more balanced and comfortable.
Adhere to environmental protection and frank and solid packaging design
The packaging design of 22STUDIO products is made of paper materials as much as possible to show the original personality of various paper materials. The outermost layer is gray cardboard, which is made of thick gray cardboard and folded in half to form a sleeve. The inner layer is made of layers of shock-proof recycled paper pulp. The watch will be placed in a dedicated dust bag before being placed in the watch box.
